The Bighorn River is having some great Beatis hatches the past week. If you love dry fly fishing, you must stop by the Horn with your favorite BWO patterns on a none windy day and give it a cast. Casting accuracy is a skill that will help you catch a lot of fish, but if you want to work on your dry fly skill sets, go give it a shot.
The canyon waters are fishing good now. We are seeing some daily fluctuations from low level snow melt. Run of has not started, but it is not far away. If you want to catch some fish before the water gets high and muddy until July, get out soon. There are a lot of patterns that are working right now so get out and fish a few. The weather is working in our favor so far delivering some great fishing.
If you can’t taste it yet, the season has already started. This season is going to be great in the Bighorn Mountains near Sheridan. The Southern end of the mountains is mostly free of snow, but the rain and cool weather is also working in our fishing favor. The Black Stones, Golden Stones and Salmon Flies are really close to making our fishing days ridiculous. If your not getting out and cleaning up your skills yet, what’s the matter with you. GOYA! GOAF!
